Using Quizlet,
an online flashcard program, and following
the
directions in this link, include the following for each term:
- On the front side of the card: the term, person, or
event to be defined
- On the back of the term, include each of the following:
- Who / what: include
all characteristics
- When: date(s) event
occurred, document was issued, President was in office, et.
- How
- Why is he / she / it significant
- Note: You should be able to
define each term based on the context of the text.
Keep in mind: it is NEVER acceptable to use quizlet's auto
fill for your definitions. Additionally, to fully
acquire all of this information, some research beyond the
information provided by the textbook may be necessary.
Example term: Thomas Paine
Example definition:
- Enlightenment / political thinker
who successfully encouraged Americans to
seek their independence from Great Britain
- Most famous work: Common
Sense (1776), pamphlet written and widely distributed
throughout the colonies
- famous and significant line: "...there is something very absurd in
supposing a continent to be perpetually governed by an
island."
Chapter Questions:
- may be answered in bullet form
(sentences / paragraphs are also fine)
- however, answers must include:
- necessary background information
and sufficient details to provide context to the answer
- a thorough answer to the question
- include all relevant details, key persons
